Warsaw, Poland (July 11): The Faldo Series Poland Championship tees off today at First Warsaw Golf & Country Club. The brightest prospects in Poland have gathered at the venue for a chance to qualify for the 22nd Faldo Series Grand Final.

First Warsaw Golf was established in 1989, and is Poland's oldest golf course. The Parkland Course, set in the flood plains of the Wisła River, presents a real challenge for every level of golfer. The first 12 holes require careful navigation of the many water hazards. The final 6 holes are set in a forest with tight fairways so accuracy off the tee is paramount.

First Warsaw Golf has been nurturing and developing junior golfers since its inception, and hosting a Faldo Series event is in line with the clubs strategy to discover the next superstar golfers from Poland and Central Europe. In First Warsaw's relatively short history, the club has hosted three European Challenge Tour events in addition to the Polish Open and Warsaw Golf Open.

“I’m glad to be able to take the Faldo Series back to Poland.” Commented Sir Nick Faldo.  “There’s tremendous golfing talent in the country just waiting to be tapped into and I’m really looking forward to seeing the development of youth golf in the region. I thank First Warsaw for sharing our vision and we’re very grateful for their support.”

Sir Nick’s personal coach Keith Wood will be working hard all week to offer support for the players and run clinics to help push their game onto the next level. Keith Wood is a highly regarded coach who has been a valuable asset to the Faldo Series – helping the junior golfers make the most of their opportunities with the Series.

The tournament will be played over three rounds and is a World Amateur Golf Ranking event. The field will be divided into five age-groups and the winners of each division will join Sir Nick Faldo at the season-ending 22nd Faldo Series Europe Grand Final – to be held at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club (AESGC) in the United Arab Emirates. AESGC boasts a superb course and immaculate facilities in the Oasis city of Al Ain.

Today, 40 Faldo Series tournaments take place in 30-plus countries worldwide, touching thousands of golfers each year. Past winners include Major Champions Tseng Ya-ni and Rory McIlroy, who took his tally of professional Major titles to four with his wins at the 2014 Open Championship and US PGA Championship.
