25 August 2017: Nathan Longley closed the Faldo Series regular season with a superlative win at Royal Ashdown Forest in the England South Championship. Longley fired a sumptuous 68 to open proceedings before following up with a 70 and a 74. The Worthing member is rewarded with a precious qualifying spot in the 21st Faldo Series Grand Final in November.

Overall Champion Nathan Longley commented:  ‘I’d like to thank Royal Ashdown Forest for hosting the event and getting the course in great shape for the competition. Thank you also to the Faldo Series for organising the really enjoyable event. I’m massively looking forward to playing in my second Grand Final.’

Longley stormed out with a 32 on the front nine at Royal Ashdown Forest. His day one 68 represented the best round of the competition by any player. By the end of the second day he had crafted a three shot lead and looked in control. Longley eased off the gas on the final day but had already done enough to claim victory. He can now look forward to playing at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club on November 27th in the Grand Final.

With Longley taking the Under-21 category there were two more Grand Final qualifying spots up for grabs. The Under-18 division required a playoff to split the two top-finishers. Morgan Taylor was locked in a battle with Charles Petrie. Taylor went out in 69 before Petrie closed the gap in the next two rounds as both finished on 217 – one over Par. The players replayed the 18th in sudden death format and Morgan Taylor prevailed to take his place in his maiden Grand Final.

There was no need for a playoff in the final division - the Under-16s. Charlie Hilton enjoyed a clear seven shot victory with Oliver Smith finishing runner-up. Hilton fired 71, 73 and 71 to get to one-under Par and win with plenty to spare. The Ilford Member chalked up four birdies in a row right off the first hole on the first day to lay down a marker and pull clear of all challengers. Hilton will look to replicate that scorching hot form when he takes his place in his first Grand Final in November.

Today, 40 Faldo Series tournaments take place in 30-plus countries worldwide, touching thousands of golfers each year. Past winners include Major Champions Tseng Ya-ni and Rory McIlroy, who took his tally of professional Major titles to four with his wins at the 2014 Open Championship and US PGA Championship.
