21 August 2015: 15-year-old Jakub Hrinda battled through a tense playoff to win the Faldo Series Slovakia Championship on his home course – The Black Stork Resort. Winning the sixth Faldo Series Slovakia Championship secures Jakub a place in his 5th Faldo Series Grand Final this September.

“I felt that all aspects of my game were really solid all week, and to play my home course in Slovakia always helps to be in familiar surroundings.”  said Hrinda. “I have been fortunate enough to attend many Grand Finals and meet Sir Nick, and Faldo Series Champion is a title that I really want add my name to.  I am looking forward to playing in Germany to try and get my hands on that trophy.”

There was consolation for runner-up Tomas Navrata, who lost the playoff to Hrinda but reached his first Grand Final. Having matched each other over three days of play to finish seven-under par, the pair then birdied the first and second playoff holes before Hrinda pared the 3rd extra hole to win. Navrata qualified for the Grand Final by winning the Boys’ Under-18 category by a three shot margin.

Jan Friesz defeated Patrick Jericha by four shots in the Boys’ Under-21 category to win a place in his second Grand Final. The winning Boys’ had been playing catch-up as the section had been lit up on day one by a course record 64 from Vojtech Mitterwald.

In the Girls’ Under-21 category Natalia Heckova won by two shots over compatriot Laila Hrindova. Like Jakub Hrinda, Natalia Heckova will now play in an impressive 5th Grand Final. The final qualifying spot was filled by Tereza Husarova in the Girls’ Under-16 section who won by two shots and will make her Grand Final debut in September.

The 2015 tournament represented the last opportunity for young golfers to gain a place in the Faldo Series Grand Final. Off the course the players benefited from time with Faldo’s personal coach Keith Wood. Keith assisted the players and conducted clinics for the duration of the week.
