1 March 2012: Reigning Faldo Series Asia girls’ champion Liu Yi-Chen will make her Ladies European Tour debut when she lines up in the inaugural World Ladies Championship at Mission Hills Haikou on Hainan Island in China on March 2-4, 2012.

“I’m grateful to Sir Nick for setting up this opportunity,” said Liu from Chinese Taipei.  “My Faldo Series victories in Europe and Asia have opened many doors for me and this is a great chance to test myself against some of the world’s top lady golfers.”

Sir Nick Faldo arranged the invitation for the 19-year-old amateur through Mission Hills and the Ladies European Tour, both of whom lend their support to the six-time Major winner’s global golf development programme.

Liu won the Faldo Series Europe girls’ title at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland in September 2010 and then became the first girl to win the Faldo Series “double” by adding the Asia title at Mission Hills Shenzhen in China in March 2011.

Also known as “Babe”, Liu became the second Faldo Series Asia girls’ champion from Chinese Taipei after current ladies world number one Yani Tseng.

Established in 1996, 37 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 27 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year.  The Faldo Series Asia is supported by ISPS, Mission Hills, The R&A and UFL.  The Faldo Series Europe is supported by The R&A, the European Tour and Lough Erne Resort.
