Ewan Scott wins Faldo Series in Scotland
23 August 2012: Ewan Scott of St Andrews won the seventh Faldo Series UK Championship of the season with a narrow one-shot victory at Panmure Golf Club in Scotland. The 17-year-old was a runner-up at the 2010 Grand Final and is hoping to go one better this time.
“Qualifying for the final was one of my main goals this season,” said Scott who opened with a superb 65 in Angus and followed that with a 74 in more testing conditions. “I came so close to winning in 2010 and enjoyed the week so much that I can’t wait to go back.”
The Scotland international was one of five Scottish players to qualify for the 16th Faldo Series Grand Final, to be hosted by Sir Nick Faldo at Lough Erne Resort in Northern Ireland on September 11-13.
Other age-group winners heading to the World Amateur Golf Ranking event at Lough Erne include Callum Cochrane of Marriot Dalmahoy (Boys’ Under-16) and Jeff Wright of Forres (Boys’ Under-21). They will be joined by Aboyne’s Kimberly Beveridge (Girls’ Under-21) and local girl Heather Munroe (Girls’ Under-16) from Monifieth.
