1 August 2013: Felix Bode won the fourth Faldo Series Germany Championship at the A-ROSA Scharmützelsee Sporting Club Berlin in Bad Saarow. The 15-year-old posted a pair of 73s on the Faldo Design course to take the title on count back from Boys’ Under-21 winner Nicholas Inderthal.
“I love this tournament and the prize of getting to the Grand Final is massive,” said Bode who can now look forward to his second successive final, this time at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, USA. “I just want to thank Sir Nick for these great events as they really are the best out there!”
“This year’s field was the biggest and strongest we’ve ever had with 100 golfers taking part,” added Vanessa Herbon, Director of A-ROSA Golf & Sport. “I thank the German Golf Federation and all the sponsors for their generous support.”
Nicholas Inderthal, a finalist in 2010, will join Bode for the Nick Faldo-hosted 17th Faldo Series Grand Final at the Greenbrier in October. Three other age group winners who are set to make their debuts in the World Amateur Golf Ranking event are Verena Gimmy (Girls’ Under-21), Greta Isabella Voelker (Girls’ Under-16) and Yannik Emmert (Boys’ Under-18) who beat 2012 finalist Hurly Long in a play-off at the fifth extra hole.
Faldo’s personal coach, Keith Wood was again present in Germany to work with competitors and also local school children who experienced golf for the first time: “This is our fourth year in Germany and the participation and interest in golf continues to grow. There are some really talented golfers here. I think the winners can do very well in the final.”
