30th June 2015:  Jiri Zuska of Golf Club Podbořánky fought his way through to his second Faldo Series Grand Final with a two-shot victory at Telc Golf resort in the Czech Championship. The 16-year-old fired two opening rounds of 68 to take command of the tournament before sealing the win with a damage limiting final day 75.

“I have won 3 out of 4 tournaments I have played here at Telc Golf Resort, so I feel very comfortable around this golf course” said Zuska, Faldo Series Grand Finalist in 2014. “I really enjoyed The Greenbrier last year meeting Sir Nick and I can’t wait for the Grand Final this year, it will be another amazing week I am sure where hopefully I can play well and compete for the title.”

Zuska will be joined at the 18th Faldo Series Grand Final by Boys’ Under-18 winner Jan Brycka who claimed the spoils with a three-shot victory margin. In the Under-21 division Simon Zach, who had already qualified via the Asia Grand Final in March, won the category by four shots. Runner-up Patrick Jericha took the final boys’ Grand Final qualifying spot.

A field of 135 competed at Telc Golf Resort, the popularity necessitating a cut after 36 holes to halve the field. Frantiska Lunackova reached her second Grand Final with her five shot victory in the Under-21 category to beat her two older sisters. Six nationalities were represented but the final qualifying spot went to another Czech national, Gabriela Roberta Vitu won the Under-16 division by four shots.

Sir Nick Faldo’s personal coach Keith Wood has attended all five years that Telc Golf resort has hosted the Faldo Series. Keith was on hand to conduct lessons and noted the real progress in the Czech players as well as the positive development steps being taken. The event was run in conjunction with CZ Golf, who have taken great strides to support junior golf and create opportunities in the Czech Republic.
